Malala Yousfzai

LI: design a poster promoting one of Malala’s key message. ‘One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world’.

For reading, we were challenged to create a poster about Malala Yousafzai key messages that she said in her speech. Before we did this challenge we watched a video of Malala Yousafzai speech, in her speech she talks about her fighting for her own rights and why she did this speech. We read a text about ‘Malala Yousafzai Speech at United Nations Youth Assembly 2013′, on our guided reading we went through and answered questions by using our own words or getting hints from Gemini. I enjoyed doing this task because we get a full understanding about why we should fight for our rights This had inspired millions of people to speak up when your in someone elses wrong doing . Remember the book and pen can always be the strongest wepon in any kind of way because it has all the knowledge and power of education.

Paired Research Challenge

LI: to research questions about your dinosaur including their habitat, diet, predators, and protection.

Our challenge was to create a DLO that tells others about the dinosaur we found when we excavated our dinosaur eggs. My partner and I found the skeleton of a Iguanodon . Something I found interesting was that our dinosaur uses there large thumb spike to strike dinosaurs that are trying to harm or eat them and this is also a good and strong weapon for them. Also  when the preditors have finished hunting the igu

Trip to Auckland War Memorial Museum

L.I We are learning to discover the meaning behide dinosaur fossils and Volcanoes.

For this weeks learning  we went to the museum to finish off our topic of Volcanoes. Classroom challenges  were incredibly fun we had dicover how a obsedent was form it is formed when lava and water touch and it turns into a beautifully sharp gem. We had went around looking at the lovley things that was found and dicovered. Something i have learned from our class time in the museum was that Rangitoto is still active right now and if it had erupted a big explosion then it would hit buckland beach that is located near the city ( sky tower) I wonder if the sky tower will fall down when the rangitoto volcano erupts. We had 30 seconds to decide what to pack if there was a volcanic eruption near us. Our group had to make wise choices so they could stay safe in the event they were evacuated.

Once a Panther

LI: To identify the key historical context and events related to the Polynesian Panthers and the Dawn Raids as depicted in the graphic novel.

For reading, we read a text about Polynesian panthers, but the topic was called Once a Panther. Group 2 was challenged to create a comic strip that describes a scene related to the ideas of prejudice and justice by using thought bubbles or dialogue that explains the image. Something I have found fun about this challenge was that we were all communicating and collabrating about the stuff we should do for our work. This helps us understand the importance of a speech bubble because it helps us look at what

Fossils

LI: To understand how scientists know so much about dinosaurs.

LI: To recognise different types of fossils and how they are formed.

Our challenge was to create a Google Draw that shows clearly labelled  examples of each fossil type.  Something I found interesting was that these fossils tell us about the past  and what its species do, Body fossils are the remaining bones of the dinosaur. Trace fossils shows us foot prints  feeding marks and many more.  These are very interesting to learn about and it will help us learn more about dinosaurs and the people who discovers bones.

RISE UP: The Story of the Dawn Raids and the Polynesian Panthers

LI: To evaluate (form an opinion) the text and respond to the provocation

We read the text RISE UP: The Story of the Dawn Raids and the Polynesian Panthers and asked to create a DLO that explores and discusses both perspectives of this historical event in our groups. Something I found interesting about this text was that we were learning about the dawn raids and what happened to pacific people in the 1970s this had cause a insain outcry and mayby some people could have suffered the pain and this was all over media but thanks to the polynesian panthers some of the pacific people found peace but some have maybe still not because they probly passed with anger ,wanting to fight back.

Dinosaur Eggs

LI: To understand how scientists discover, record and learn from fossils.

Our challenge was to become a palaeontologist who uncovered a rare dinosaur egg fossil. We used Adobe Express to reimagine what a real find might look like. After a quick research challenge about habitat we used that information to create our image. My partner and I found the skeleton of a Iguanodon. Two interesting fact that i have found out about my dinosaur fossils that i have found was that a iguanodon could grow up to 30-36 feet tall and it is 9 to 11 meters long. Iguanodons was one of the first dinosaurs ever discovered and named, and its name means “iguana tooth” because its teeth resembled those of modern iguanas. This task was fun because it had made me learn more about dinosaurs and what specific species it is and what it does . And i had fun learning about this because it reflects the past and it shows what dinosaur fossils look like when they have found it.

Shameful stain on NZ history’: Polynesian Panthers push for dawn raids apology

LI: To evaluate (form an opinion) the text and respond to the provocation

For this weeks learning we have been learning about the NZ history when the dawn raids and the polyneaisan pathers happened this happen in 1970 because the dawn raids, pakeha people wanted the Polynesian people to come and work in there country and work for there familes little did they know the Polynesians were going to be getting deported back to there home country. Polynesian people was begining to get deport back while the government kept  on going and going to each Polynesian family demanding proof and paperwork for them to be here this had created and crazy outcry in 1970 so the Polynesian people created a crew of people called the Polynesian panthers this crew and group wanted justic for there own people and didn’t want them to be treated like that because we are all humans there strongest beleif was ” Once a panther always a panther”. And not long ago the government had made an public announcement about apolygising to the polyneasian people and I think its too late., My opinion was why did it start?,What made the government think like that?, Who caused it first?

Paleontologist 50 Word Summary

L.I We are learning how to create an 50 word Summary and tell the story using the 50 words.

For learning this week we had learn about using an 50 word Summary in to a powerful story about the paleontologist paleontologist is people who discovered and find out what type of dinosaur there is and they mostly excavate dinosaur fossils. Paleontologist have been researching for dinosaur remainings like bones and fossils to display them in museums. They usually study the underground and rocks usually paleontologist study and dig dinosaur bones and fossils.

Mary Annings Story

This weeks learning is about a woman who first discovered a dinosaur fossils in  German which made her likely a dinosaur fossil hunter like her dad and she chose to follow her dads footsteps and we are incredibly suprise by her finding dinosaur bones. Its inspiring that we know how Mary annings life turned out because she was first caught in  a bad weather when she was a baby and had survived a lightning struck and she was the only person who survived and the other people had died . Mary annings is a woman who finds dinosaur fossils and was born May 21 1799 and started from there she has a beautiful back story of her life and of her dinosaur fossil jounrney.
