Volcano poem

LI:To write a multi verse cinquain poem that describes the journey of a sleeping maunga that erupts

We have been exploring cinquain poems. A conquain poem. A cinquain poem has 5 lines. Each line has a different purpose. Line 1 is a noun which is a name. Line 2 has 2 adjectives taht describe the noun. Line 3 has 3 verbs that end in ‘ing’ and describe the actions. Line 4 is a noun phrase which is a group of words (not a sentence) that go together to describe the noun. Line 5 is a synonym which is a word with a similar meaning to the noun. We used our poem to show our understanding of volcanoes. Something I found interesting about this was that we can make a unqie story just by using some of these powerful words. 

 

 

Whakaari White Island

LI: To discuss the impact of volcanoes on the environment and human communities.

Our challenge was to research the impact of a specific volcanic eruption in Aotearoa. We could choose from Mt Tarawera or Whakaari. We found out that Whakaari white island erupted in 2019 which was seven years ago this volcano was also one of New Zealands active volcano. I found this task good for my knowledge so that i know what types of volcanoes there are and how or when they erupted which is amazing this is good because we are also learning the new zealand history about volcanos.  For my volcano that I had picked for my reasearched was whakaari white island it is located off the coast of New Zealands north island and i think that this volcano has less more people that had passed away from its eruption.

L.I How to calculate place values up to millions and 2 decimal points.

For this weeks learning we had created a DLO about our maths and recorded  what we have been doing for maths , all together we used all our brains into multiple the lowest common number in order to get the right answer this has been amazing to learn about because it have help us relise how good we have been collabrating and communacating together. My Maths group was learning how to name place and total values up to Millions and two decimal places and created a DLO explaining how to so that it can teach others who don’t know how to do it. This was a collaborative task and that was my favourite part about it because we could get more information in the DLO.

The fiery Maunga…. Pourquoi Story

 

Years ago a dangerous fearless mountain fiery Maunga had been woken up from its sleep .

” It was so peaceful “ She had exploded with maga covering each side of her body.

As she realised that all the maunga that  was surrounding her had run away because of her actions and anger that had burst in flames. As the ground grumbled and rumbled as she knew it wasn’t her fault  her inner side had been burning in flames she had asked herself if it was really her fault.

“This is outrageous”. All the maunga had run away with fear and sadness because they were snoozing while her temperature had risen with anger.They were all dozing off and they didn’t know what was happening.

” I had a major fight with all my siblings”. and “I knew that I couldn’t outsmart them because I was the middle child in the volcanic family”. “So Dosen’t mean you cant tell mum said the oldest child”. She knew that her parents wouldn’t believe her so all of those memories of her being bullied.

My siblings had come back to me with ugly aditude so hard that I had burst with anger and shouted  why is she always being a abused by you ugly monsters.”Maungrei was a mountain that had exploded into millions of pieces; her eyes were pierced with ferocity. Madness had taken over , fury rising upon her face;

“I was going to explode”.  “Ahhh RUN! RUN!  my sibblings said shes going to burst RUNN!! “.She hadn’t said anything because she knew what was going to be said if she had opened her mouth . Her heart felt like it was pierced a million times with needles. She had exploded with magma covering each corner of her eyes, her face and her expression was turning into a dark dull red emotion. She didn’t know how to control all the ferocity that had taken her away. She closed her eyes hoping to doze off once  again. Her hands were bloody like she was at a murder scene, her eyes kept on twitching like there was no Tomorrow her body filled with bad emotions ,her body was redder than a tomato it was like she was going burst and burst and explode with the biggest magma in her life. KABOOM!! KABOOM!! The explosion had started deep inside of her. ”

 The forest and the poor animals were killed from the magma that had exploded from inside of her.Her eyes slowly closed, her heart beating with anger but she got over it. Her heart personality.personality.finaling resting, her anger sinking to the bottom of her lungs as she is finally able to be sleeping peacefully and able to freely breathe .”My memory of the explosion  had been erased as it was too much for me to handle in this kind of situation. ” I considers it as now I can sleep peacefully like a maunga that was never woken up by the people climbing onto her mountain but if i were to catch anyone distubing me you will never ever see a day in the light.” Finally shes resting said the youngest child.”

For our learning last week we had learned how to create and write a pourqoui story it was really intresting and fun to do ,writing storys  like this not only help me but also help the people around and in my classroom. Writing a pourqoui story help me understand more launguage fetures and giving human quality to something that is actually not a human but is a object. For Adobe Express we used it for generating a image using prompts that explains about maungarei sleeping/resting as in a volcano, when we do our prompts it will appear with lots of images. I wrote in my prompts “A angry fire mountain called Maungarei with it’s eyes and mouths”. I tried using powerful and understanding words in my prompts because I usually get a image of just a volcano exploding or a normal volcano. So we had add more details into what we want in or outside of our volcano.

How a volcano erupts.

 

For inquiry we learned about volcanoes and what are the different types. What causes a volcanic eruption? The volcano erupts when 2 tectonic plates crash and touch each other that can make the magma rise to the Earth’s surface which can rise and flow out onto the flat surface of land (that can cause damage to buildings and people, etc…). While it’s erupting, the gas goes everywhere including it going higher than the clouds are usually at. Once the pressure is high enough, the magma erupts which could push through the volcano’s vent. What are the 4 types/differences of volcanoes? The 4 types of volcanoes are shield, cinder cone, composite (another word is stratovolcanoes and lava domes. I enjoyed doing this activity because I get to learn information about volcanoes by watching the videos and using our smart searching skills. Volcano are amazing to learn about it is very inspiring and sad  to learn about all the story behind the  volcano is very sad. Volcanos  have a various eruption that can cause a major disaster to little villages that are surrounding the volcano.

We have been learning facts about the volcano and why it is know for these are amazing and dangerous eruptions it helps us relize  the importants to study about volcano ,what is causing it to erupt and to learn how it was formed. Some volcano is absolutly dangerous because of the magma that is formed inside of the volcano also magma means lava. This is a very creative way to learn about  the volcano and how it started to form into a volcano .
